
Roy A. Tangen started in photography at an early age. In fact he was first published in the New York Daily News at 14 years old. At the time he was the youngest ever to be published in a major daily newspaper on a regular basis. He was a “stringer” for many years while attending High School in New York City and worked full time for the Brooklyn Eagle.
At 16 years old he was a staff photographer for the Brooklyn Eagle newspaper but due to his age press credentials could be issued. Roy became a U.S. Navy Photographer photographed everything from portraits to airplane crashes and recon in Viet Nam.
His work has been published in; New York Daily News, Brooklyn Eagle, New York Mirror, National Enquirer, Stars & Strips, many men’s magazines and has several books published. His photographs have appeared on billboards in New York City’s famous theater district, as well as in books by various authors.
In addition, Roy has several photographic awards and has lectured and taught fashion and commercial photography for many years.

New York Institute of Photography — New York City
Germain School of Photography - New York City
He also took specialty sessions / courses /lectures from some of the finest photographers in America, including:
Ansel Adams, Philippe Halsman, Dean Collins, Vincent Steilber, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Jay Maisel, Pete Turner and Monte Zucker.
